dorm decisions

-
So I have to decide as soon as possible whether I want to live in a dorm with hall bathrooms or suite bathrooms. And I keep debating between the two and simply cannot decide!
-
Here's what I am thinking so far:
-
Hall Bathrooms: Builds community more. Someone else cleans it. A stall/shower/sink is pretty much always available. You get to know the people on your hall better.
-
Suite Bathrooms: You don't have to lug your soap and toothbrush and whatnot down to the bathroom every morning and evening. More privacy. More counter space. You get to decorate it. You get the fun aspect of having suite mates.
-
As soon as I am sure I have decided on the one, I start to thinking about how the other option really would be better. And I am the type of person who likes to make decisions fast, so this is really frustrating me.

Thoughts or suggestions, anyone? (Ahem, sister?)

  3. Suite mates would be fun. But it does make for inconvenient showering - remember the squeezed shower times at PHC? So getting ready in the morning might be a hassle. Do you get your own sink in your room, in addition to a bathroom? And, from my experience, I had all these grand plans of vacuuming and dusting...and, yeah. Vaccuuming happens occasionally; we'll just ignore the dusting part. And I've taken to using my roomie's plastic Elmo bowls instead of the pretty real ones I bought. Lame, I know. But it is a pain to wash dishes in the bathroom! (so I guess that's a plus for the suite!) But cleaning the suite bathroom might be annoying to navigate. But then, you don't have to stumble down the hallway in your pajamas. So that didn't help at all - but it's my random two cents! :)

  4. Hmm... a tough question indeed, dear.

I do think that you would meet more people if you opted for a hall bathroom. Most of the interation I had with girls on my floor occurred in the bathroom. :) And it will always be clean. Much as you might plan to clean your suite bathroom regularly, I doubt that will really happen once you get busy.

That being said, being able to decorate your little bathroom would be fun... and you would have more privacy, which is nice.

Basically, do you ever want a hall bathroom experience? If so, now is the time to get it. You'll have other chances as an upperclassman to perhaps get an apartment or get a suite set-up once you develop a solid group of friends. So I might say hall bathroom... though I don't think you'd be wrong at all to choose the suite. :)

    Did that help at all?

  5. Paige: Thanks for stopping by! And yes...it was such a wonderful opportunity to intern with Kristen.

Joanna, Megan, & Amy: Thanks for the suggestions! I sent in my form last week and chose the dorm with hall bathrooms. There is of course still a chance that I won't be placed in that dorm, but we'll see. And yes, Amy, that was very helpful. :)
